That's a very good point Stacy, not only have they exported a lot of the good jobs but as you point out, a lot of sweatshop jobs as well. Not to mention the pollution that goes along with it. The only thing coming back this way is the money, but thanks to the tax cuts for the rich, we see damn little of that.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('63','Paul Wilden','That\'s a very good point Stacy, not only have they exported a lot of the good jobs but as you point out, a lot of sweatshop jobs as well.
Another dimension of the modern day version, is that much of the poverty has been exported to other countries in the form of cheap labor. Most of those factory jobs and sweatshops are now overseas, so there is no moral revulsion because we aren't aware of the working conditions. Out of site, out of mind.
On another note, people live in this country in very homogeneous suburbs, get to work by car, and can avoid seeing anything that makes them uncomfortable.
Reply - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('62','Stacy Droneburg','Another dimension of the modern day version, is that much of the poverty has been exported to other countries in the form of cheap labor.
